Physical changes
Bodily changes:The body transforms into a woman's body, parting from the child's body and developing feminine characteristics. Sexuality:Developing sexual identity: sexual attraction and self-esteem as a woman. Coping with sexual impulses and gender differences.
Emotional processes
Developing self-identity: Who am I? What do I value? What do I believe in? How do others perceive me? How do I perceive others? Parental separation:Perceiving the parent as an individual with both advantaged and disadvantages. Establishing boundary of the self: Getting to know one's boundaries as individualizing vs. separating. Getting to know my inner vs. environmental boundaries and developing the skills necessary for setting self boundaries.
Cognitive development
Abstract thought: More ability to perceive the complexity of reality. Moral sense: The establishment of values.
Social participation
Environmental expectations: family, peers, educational and cultural settings. Positive peer relationship: fulfillment of personal needs, sense of partnership, self-confidence and peer acceptance.
